Event Details

This summer Graffiti Theatre will be presenting “The Salt Spring Chalk Circle”, an adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s timeless classic, “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” as performed by a Salt Spring ensemble led by internationally renowned director and teacher, Nick Hutchinson.

Nick is well known as the founding Artistic Director of the Caravan Stage Company, and brings his talent to Salt Spring to unite professional performers with Salt Spring talent to create a show that will reflect the issues of Land Stewardship and Leadership that are so important in the community today. Many will remember the important message Brecht's popular work conveys as the audience explores the themes of the classic story of the Judgement of Solomon.

The Play will be performed in the beautiful seaside setting of Centennial park beginning at 730pm July 28,29,30,31 and August 4,5,6,7. The audience will have a rare opportunity to participate in an exciting, outdoor performance with an amazing original score written by well known BC composer Doug Dodds performed by a cast of well known Canadian talent and our own local talent and youth.

Graffiti Theatre is proud to present their summer production which promises to be more than a performance but an experience.

Graffiti Theatre

Graffiti theatre was founded in 1997 by three island women who wanted to create a theatre company that could bring professional level theatre to the diverse cultural community of Salt Spring Island. Since, becoming Salt Spring's only semi-proffessional theatre company, Graffiti has produced many original and classical works often outdoors and always combining the skills of local and visiting professionals with the talent of local artists, youth and emerging professionals. Graffiti is proud to offer the opportunity for islanders to work with renouned Canadian Talents such as Mort Ransen, Scott Highlands, Nicola Cavendish and Nick Hutchinson.
